Private & Out of State Colleges

Transferring to a Private or Out-of-State College/University

These institutions are not governed by the KY Council on Postsecondary Education (KY CPE), so they do not go by the same policies about transfer certification and course tags. Unless there is a specific transfer agreement, these colleges will evaluate your transfer credit on a course-by-course basis. It is important to decide early on your transfer institution and major, and develop a plan of courses to take that will work best for that transfer.

      Any student accepted into Asbury University who presents an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree awarded by one of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System schools will be deemed to have satisfied the Asbury University Foundational requirements with the exception of the Bible/Theology (9) and World Language requirement (0-9). [This does not apply to an associate of applied science.] Any foundational courses which are also required courses for a major or minor cannot be waived.For traditional on campus students(source)
      HAVING AN ASSOCIATE DEGREEFROM A KCTCS SCHOOL
      Any student accepted into Asbury University who presents an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree awarded by one of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System schools will be deemed to have satisfied the Asbury University APS Foundational requirements with the exception of the Biblical studies requirements (9.0). Asbury can transfer a maximum of 60.0 credits from these institutions. [This does not apply to an Associate of Applied Science.] Any foundational courses which are also required courses for a major cannot be waived.For Adult and Professional Studies students(source)

Please note that you cannot use Kentucky state aid for attending an out-of-state institution (KEES scholarship, CAP grant, KTG grant), although these two institutions offer tuition discounts off of non-resident tuition for students from specific KY counties in our service region.
