Take classes anytime, anywhere. Here’s how to apply as a distance learner and start building the future you deserve.

Online courses at BSCTC give you maximum flexibility to learn at times and places that are most convenient for you—even if that means 2 am at your kitchen table. What’s more, distance classes provide the same credits and transfer options as on-campus classes.

How to Apply

Applying to distance learning programs at BSCTC is easy, and we’re here to help. Just follow these quick steps:

  1. Submit the Application for Admission. It’s free, and it only takes about 15 minutes to complete.
     
  2. Send us your final high school or GED transcripts or all colleges you've attended
     
  3. Submit your ACT or SAT scores or the results of placement testing.
     
  4. Explore financial aid. Generous scholarships, grants and loans make a great education even more affordable.

Licensure Disclosure

Big Sandy Community and Technical College (BSCTC) offer courses, certificate programs, diplomas, and associate degrees that may lead to licensure or certification that is required for employment in your state. Requirements for licensure or certification in other states may vary. None of these programs can be completed fully online. In person coursework is required. BSCTC is a member of the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (NC-SARA) which allows us to provide distance learning programs (both online and in the form of supervised field experiences) and coursework to residents of states other than Kentucky.  

Big Sandy Community and Technical College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award associate degrees. If you currently live outside of Kentucky, be aware there may be additional requirements needed to obtain licensure or certification in your state. BSCTC has made every effort to ensure the educational requirements for licensure or certification information is correct; however, state requirements may change following the publication of this information. Consult with your state’s licensing/certification board to determine if your chosen path of study will meet their requirements.

Student Complaint Process

Online Student Complaint Process

At Big Sandy Community & Technical College (BSCTC), we take student complaints seriously. If you have a complaint about a course or experience at BSCTC, you should follow the BSCTC student complaint procedures. This is a required step for all students who have complaints.

If a satisfactory solution cannot be determined, you should find the category (below) that best describes your current residency and follow the steps outlined to resolve the complaint.

BSCTC Students Who Live In Kentucky

  1. Attempt to solve the problem by working with BSCTC through the formal complaint process.
  2. If your complaint cannot be successfully resolved, submit your concerns using the Kentucky Council for Postsecondary Education’s online complaint form.

BSCTC Students Who Do Not Live In Kentucky (SARA-members)

  1. Attempt to solve the problem by working with BSCTC through the formal complaint process
  2. If your complaint cannot be successfully resolved, determine if you live in a SARA member state. 
    1. If Yes, continue
    2. If No, move to the next section
  3. Submit your concerns using the Kentucky Council for Postsecondary Education’s online complaint form.

BSCTC Students Who Do Not Live In Kentucky (non-SARA states and territories)

  1. Attempt to solve the problem by working with BSCTC through the formal complaint process.
  2. If your complaint cannot be successfully resolved, find your state or territory’s agency for lodging complaints below.
  3. Use the contact information listed to continue your complaint process.
