3.2.1 The governing board of the institution is responsible for the selection and the evaluation of the chief executive officer.

Narrative:

Pursuant to Kentucky Revised Statute (KRS) 164.600 [1] Big Sandy Community and Technical College (BSCTC) Board of Directors is given the authority "to recommend one (1) candidate for the college president from three (3) candidates provided by the president of KCTCS." The KCTCS Board of Regents has final authority to ratify personnel actions, including the hiring of the college president [2].

Additionally, KRS164.600 [1] gives the Big Sandy Community and Technical College Board of Directors the authority to annually evaluate the community college president and to advise the KCTCS President of his or her performance. The BSCTC Board of Directors evaluates the President annually and communicates the results directly to the KCTCS President. This evaluation information, coupled with input from faculty and staff, is considered in the final evaluation by the KCTCS President. A summary letter from the KCTCS President indicates that the BSCTC President [3] is evaluated annually through a variety of means including input from the local college Board of Directors and BSCTC faculty and staff. Planning Performance and Evaluation instruments for the BSCTC President are on file in the Human Resources Office at BSCTC.
