Big Sandy Community and Technical College (BSCTC) awards Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, and Associate in
Applied Science degrees. The highest degree awarded is the associate degree. The College does not offer bachelor degrees,
graduate, or professional degrees. As outlined in the KCTCS Board of Regents Policy 4.1.2-B, Associate in Arts and Associate i
n Science degree programs must consist of a minimum of 60 semester credit hours and Associate in Applied Science degrees
consist of 60 to 76 semester
credit hours [1].
The policy on transfer and program length is established by
KRS 164.020 [2]
and KCTCS Board of Regents Policies
1.3.2.3 [3],
4.11 [4], and
4.12 [5].
The published policies are consistent with
BSCTC mission [6]
and the guidelines established by the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education for
transfer of credits. [7].

All associate degrees are designed to meet state, regional, and community needs and are reviewed through an internal program
review process as described in Core Requirement 2.5. Written justification and rationale for
program equivalency is provided in the
College catalog [9]
and KCTCS Catalog [8].
Guidelines for the transfer of coursework are published by the Kentucky Council on
Postsecondary Education [7].
