The Art Gallery at Big Sandy Community and Technical College will feature the artwork of Donna Williams through April 7.

Williams, a Floyd County native, chronicles the struggles that humans endure and their place in today’s world. Her art is concentrated in multi-dimensional objects and abstract painting that represent both light and dark in theory and execution.

Williams’ work can be bright, inspiring and, at times, chaotic, while becoming grim and painful in sculpture.

“The process of taking objects apart, of breaking them down to rearrange them is an attempt to navigate issues that sometimes feel out of control and difficult to comprehend,” she said. “Each piece is something of a self-portrait and an approach to live life closer to earth, and search for truth in all forms.”

The Art Gallery is located in the Magoffin Learning Resource Center on BSCTC’s Prestonsburg campus. It is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Fridays from 9 a.m. to noon. For more information, contact Tim Sizemore at (606) 886-3863, Ext. 64746.
