Jimmy WrightJimmy Wright has been named dean of student affairs at Big Sandy Community and Technical College (BSCTC).

A native of Paintsville, Wright, 47, has served in many capacities during his 23 years at BSCTC, including a long stint as associate dean of student affairs. In his new position, Wright will oversee admissions, recruitment and advising.

“I look forward to working diligently to provide stronger support services to students on our campuses,” said Wright. “We take great pride in providing great student services that promote success, retention and transfer.”

Dr. Nancy B. Johnson, provost at BSCTC, said Wright “exemplifies the mission and values of our institution.”

“Jimmy’s approach has always been student centered,” said Dr. Johnson. “His dedication to students and the betterment of our college is unwavering.”

Wright, a graduate of Prestonsburg Community College, earned his undergraduate degree from Sullivan University and his master’s degree in Adult and Higher Education from Morehead State University.

Over the years, many things have changed, but Wright said the joy of seeing a student earn a degree or credential is always special.

“At the end of the day, that’s why we do what we do,” he said.
